1. Individuals write within a particular situation and make strategic writing choices based on that situation.

2. Explain how an argument demonstrates understanding of an audience’s beliefs, values, or needs.

3. Demonstrate an understanding of an audience’s beliefs, values or needs.

4. Writers make claims about subjects, rely on evidence that supports the reasoning that justifies the claim, and often acknowledge or respond to other, possibly opposing arguments.

5. Identify and explain claims and evidence within an argument.

6. Identify and describe the overarching thesis of an argument, and any indication it provides of the argument’s structure.

7. Develop a paragraph that includes a claim and evidence supporting the claim.

8. Write a thesis that requires proof or defense and that may preview the structure of the argument..

Class Starter

Membean 5 minute lesson.

Activities 

Students will go over the SCA results and discuss areas of concern. Specifically concrete details, commentary in both their writing as well the writing of others.

Run a Wednesday schedule for 6th and 7th periods.

All juniors and seniors will be in particular classes in the morning while the test is being given.  Will only see classes for a short period during the afternoon.
