AP Physics 1

This AP class is also a dual-credit class with New Mexico Junior College.  It is the equivalent of a one-semester algebra-based college introductory physics course.

Students will spend at least 25% of class time investigating physics via hands-on labs and computer simulations.  Most of these will be inquiry-based which means student groups will design and carry out a lab procedure to investigate a particular question posed by the teacher.

To be successful, your student will have to
stay current with assignments and
come to class prepared!! Before coming to class, students will need to either read the assigned section in the textbook or go to the Khan Academy site (https://www.khanacademy.com/science/physics) or the Physics Classroom site (www.physicsclassroom.com).  These links are also posted on the class' Google Classroom for reference.

Class time will be devoted to labs, practice activities to help students master the skills to complete problem sets, and assessments which will be taken from past AP exams so students become familiar with the types of questions and depth of knowledge required to pass the AP test which will occur in May.
