I’m a high school English teacher who loves a good story, a little history, and finding ways to make literature actually mean something to students. I earned my BA in Social Sciences from the University of Arizona and my MA in English and History from Western New Mexico University. I enjoy bringing history and literature together in the classroom and helping students see that the things people wrote hundreds of years ago can still connect to our lives today. My goal is pretty simple: help students become better readers, stronger writers, and more confident thinkers along the way.

I took an alternative route to education, and am working on my Masters at WNMU. I've been in education 5 years, but this is my first year as a certified teacher, and I wouldn't want to do anything else. My husband and children are my everything. Outside of school I love woodburning projects.

This is my 22nd year teaching. I received my master’s degree from Arkansas State University in 2014 and my BBA from the University of North Texas in 1988. I also sponsor National Honor Society. I’ve been married for 40 years, and we have one son. My husband and I love to travel! We’ve been to all 50 states and are now starting to visit other countries.

Mrs. Lopez is originally from Honduras and is a bilingual educator with experience teaching Spanish and Social Studies. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Spanish at the University of Texas Permian Basin and is passionate about helping students value their language, culture, and identity. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, and traveling. She is excited to be part of the Hobbs High School community and to support her students as they learn and grow.

Hello! My name is Mariama Quiroga, but my students know me as Ms. Mari. I attended New Mexico Junior College and am currently pursuing my degree in Education. This is my fourth year teaching in the ELA department at Hobbs High School, and while teaching was not originally part of my plan-I had always dreamed of becoming a nurse—I believe God had a different path in store for me, and I am grateful that I chose to continue my education and remain at Hobbs High. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my three children and my amazing boyfriend, going to church at Christian Center, running, barre, and cooking. I am passionate about my students and truly believe that every student who walks through my classroom doors is there for a reason, and I am honored to be part of their journey.

Hello. I am passionate about teaching English. I am an avid reader and writer and I feel these are vital skills to success. I was a newspaper journalist for more than 20 years before becoming a teacher. I have also been writing a religion column for our local newspaper since 2011. I have published a book and am working on another one. I have a teaching certification in elementary and secondary education and have been teaching for 13 years. I am a Level 2 teacher. I have a bachelor of science degree in Journalism along with a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Eastern New Mexico University. My alternative teaching license in secondary education is from ENMU and my elementary license is from New Mexico Junior College.

I am a proud graduate of Hobbs High School and am now in my 16th year serving public education with Hobbs Schools and my 18th year in education overall. I currently teach AP Seminar for 10th grade and Dual Credit Psycholoy at Hobbs High, where I also serve as the Student Council faculty advisor.

My educational journey has taken me through several institutions and disciplines. I earned my BA in Psychology and MBA from New Mexico State University, followed by an MS in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. Most recently, I completed a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of the Southwest.

When I'm not in the classroom, I love to travel, and Disney World holds a special place in my heart as my happy place. I'm passionate about education and dedicated to helping students grow both academically and as leaders in our school community.
