Thursday, October 16th, Hobbs High School will be testing for the PSAT and SAT! If you are a Senior and you signed up to re-take the SAT for college applicaitons, please show up at the Mezzanine in Tydings in the morning. For the Sophomore and Juniors, this is a mandatory test. You will be assigned a classroom where you will be taking your test.

Attention Seniors! FASFA night is happening on October 6th from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Student Union Building. Please come and attend and bring at least one parent with you. There will also be Pizza and Refreshments provided by the Maddox Foundation that I hope you can enjoy with your parent(s)!

On the Nov. 4th ballot: Two important mill levies, the 2-Mill and 4-Mill. These are existing property tax levies that help fund vital services in our school community —
🔹 2 Mill Levy → Focuses on core school facilities, maintenance, vehicles, and classroom technology.
🔹 4 Mill Levy → Covers those same needs PLUS larger-scale technology infrastructure and facility projects.
👉If both SB9 & HB33 pass, you’ll see NO increase in your tax bill because the levies will continue as an existing tax which is already in place.
⭐Maintaining the existing rate of 2 Mill and 4 Mill would generate an average of $13 million per year for equipment and other tangible items that are vital district -wide, across all student educational programs.
A home valued at $100,000 would see the same rate of $198 per year or $16.67 per month, which is 56¢ per day!
📅 Absentee voting and early voting at the Lea County Courthouse began Oct. 7th!

As part of a three day visit to SENM Mr. Strickland got to present before the NM Legislative Finance Committee on the benefits of CTE programs in public education, and what it can do for communities through workforce development, and the importance of investing in our students with viable work-based learning initiatives as a part of students overall education experience.

HMS would like to inform the community that services for longstanding educator and HMS School Board member Peggy Appleton, along with her husband Terry will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 10:30 am at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. HMS would like to thank all who have contacted us and shared great stories about their service to the students of Hobbs, and sympathy and prayers for their family and to our staff. The Appleton's will truly be missed by all at HMS and in Hobbs . They were the best example of service above self.
At last night's HMS school board meeting, Mr. Strickland and HHS Principal's Jason Parrish and Chanelle Scott got to present a diploma to new HHS senior graduate Natalie Webb. Congratulations Natalie we're excited already for the future you're building. You will always be a Hobbs Eagle and we are so proud of you!
