English, 11th and 10th grade
I was in the U.S. Navy for 11 years, serving from Sept. 2000 through Nov. 2011, working in the medical field. As a corpsman (think nurse), I was able to serve with the Navy or the Marines, during my career, I did both. My first 8 years were active duty while my last three were in the reserves. I was assigned to VFA-22 (Navy) deployed twice onboard the USS Carl Vinson as well as serving in Iraq with MWSS 373 (Marines).
Since Aug. 2008 I have been a sports writer. I have worked for newspapers in Jacksonville, Illinois (4 years) and Hannibal, Missouri (3 years) as well as the Hobbs News-Sun (6 years).
I attended Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois, where I got my Associates Degree with an emphasis in journalism in 2010. I got my bachelors degree from Blackburn College, in communications, which is located in Carlinville, Illinois, in 2012.
I am new to teaching this year, so it will be a learning process for both of us. My goal is to help make you all better writers and to better understand the written English language.
