Using video, classes will answer a set of questions about the video “The Book of Life”. This video entails mostly what is important about the day of the dead and the importance of family in the Spanish culture. Many words and phrases are used to portray this part of the Spanish culture. We will view this over the next two days. This will be turned in for a grade.

To ASSEMBLE notes on Spanish grammar. Specifically, articles either definite, indefinite or how to make adjectives plural in Spanish.

Students will work on assembling notes that deal with how to put together articles, nouns and adjectives in Spanish. Afterwards, we will work on taking a list of either nouns or adjectives in Spanish and combining these with the correct

To TEST oral speaking abilities.

Teacher Activities\Student Activities:

Classes will begin oral individual testing of speaking abilities. Each student will come up and become either person one or person two. They will then have a “conversation” with the instructor. We will have practiced this several times as a class and before we have the individual test. Classes will have been informed to also take home conversation and practice it individually.

Do I know my conversation?

Review with class how test will be administered.

Classes will view video: el dia de los muertos . This is a video that deals with the part of Mexican culture that talks about what the day of the dead is all about. We will answer a given set of questions that deal with the video.

What is the significance of the day of the dead? Why is this day called the day of the dead in the first place?

Students will view video\episode of I LOVE LUCY. Classes will note how characters in episode can and do communicate without speaking. This is a lesson on how people can communicate without speaking,yet totally understand eachother. They will also note how one of the characters speaks English with a Spanish accent.[pronunciation]
